Where connection makes room for change.
You may already understand your patterns. You may know where they came from and even recognize them while they're happening---and still find that your body reacts before you can choose something different.
Maybe you've gotten very good at functioning while carrying a nervous system that is still working far too hard. Maybe the ways you learned to cope helped you achieve, care for other people, stay in control, push through, or simply keep going.
Those ways of adapting may have served you well.
They may also be costing you something now.
Whispering Winds Therapy provides trauma-informed psychotherapy for children age 6 and older, adolescents, and adults.
Telehealth throughout Idaho and Washington | In-person services in Athol, Idaho

You can be doing well and still be struggling.
Struggle doesn't always look like falling apart.
Sometimes it looks like anxiety underneath competence. Perfectionism that makes it difficult to rest. Taking care of everyone else while losing track of yourself. Staying productive because slowing down feels harder. Understanding exactly why you react the way you do and still feeling unable to change what happens next.
For children and adolescents, it may look different: big emotions, anxiety, difficulty with transitions, behavior that seems confusing or disproportionate, shutting down, trying very hard to get things right, or struggling to put an experience into words.
A pattern can be causing problems now and have developed for a very good reason.
Therapy gives us room to become curious about both.
Understanding something isn't always the same as experiencing it differently.
Insight matters. Sometimes knowing why something happens doesn't change what happens in the moment.
You can understand that you're safe and still feel your body brace. You can know you don't have to take care of everyone and still feel responsible for how they're doing. You can recognize a familiar pattern while you're in it and still find yourself following it all the way through.
That's part of why my work is relational, experiential, and trauma-informed, with attention to the ways our bodies and nervous systems participate in our experiences.
There will still be talking. There may also be opportunities to notice what happens before the explanation arrives: sensations, impulses, movement, shifts in activation, patterns of connection, and the ways you respond in relationship, including your relationship with yourself.
The goal isn't to become perfectly calm or endlessly self-aware.
It's to have more room inside your experience.
More awareness. More connection. More choice.
Ways we can work together
Traditional Psychotherapy
Traditional psychotherapy is available by telehealth throughout Idaho and Washington and in an outdoor setting at my property in Athol, Idaho.
Our work may include talking, reflection, curiosity about patterns and relationships, and attention to the ways your body and nervous system respond to what you're experiencing.
Meeting outdoors changes the setting, not the therapeutic modality. Horses may be visible or nearby at the Athol property, but they are not incorporated into traditional psychotherapy simply because we are outside.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine-assisted psychotherapy is mental-health psychotherapy in which horses are intentionally incorporated into the therapeutic process.
It is not therapeutic riding, adaptive riding, riding instruction, horsemanship, coaching, or equine-assisted learning. No horse experience is required, and you do not have to ride or even directly interact with a horse for the work to be meaningful.
Sessions are primarily ground-based and take place at my property in Athol, Idaho.
The horse isn't there to fix you or tell us what your behavior means. The relationship gives us somewhere to notice what is already happening.
Who I work with
I work with children age 6 and older, adolescents, and adults navigating experiences such as trauma, anxiety, stress, difficult life experiences, relationship patterns, perfectionism, overfunctioning, emotional overwhelm, burnout, and the lasting effects of having needed to adapt in order to keep going.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and highly aware. Some are high achievers. Some have spent years caring for everyone around them. Some have become very good at staying in control, pushing through, or figuring things out.
You don't need to fit a particular version of struggle to belong here.
We can begin with what is happening now and get curious together about how you got here.
Meet Kodie
I'm Kodie Mobbs, LCSW (Idaho) / LICSW (Washington), a clinical social worker, therapist, and horse person.
My clinical work has included people across a wide range of ages, experiences, and settings. My approach has been shaped by trauma-informed care, attachment, relationship, somatic and nervous-system-informed perspectives, and years of learning from the people I've had the privilege of working alongside.
I don't see myself as the authority on your life. I bring clinical knowledge, experience, curiosity, and a willingness to be real with you. You bring expertise that I can't have: what it is actually like to be you.
Therapy works best when we can use both.
Clinical Supervision
I provide clinical supervision for developing mental-health professionals when supervision by an independently licensed clinical social worker meets the requirements of their profession and licensure pathway.
My approach to supervision emphasizes clinical judgment, curiosity, accountability, and helping clinicians develop their own professional voice rather than simply learning to reproduce mine.
